How to use this tool
Every project below shows its council-approved budget allocation and what share it represents of the total. For the two major transformation projects — the Downtown Event Centre and the Cultural Hub at Tom Davies Square — you can use the slider to explore what different annual operating cost scenarios would mean for the city budget. These are the only two projects with operating cost sliders because they are the only ones where the city has released projected operating figures.

ABOUT THIS TOOL: All budget figures reflect council-approved 2026 allocations sourced from primary City of Greater Sudbury records. Capital budgets fund physical assets and infrastructure — they do not translate directly to annual property tax changes in a simple one-to-one relationship. The operating cost sliders on the Event Centre and Cultural Hub are for civic exploration only — they show what different annual operating cost levels would represent as a share of the city's total budget. Event Centre operating cost range is based on the PwC 2021 business plan (city-confirmed). Cultural Hub operating cost baseline is drawn from the city's 2026 budget documents. Service partner budgets are set independently and are not under direct mayoral authority. Water and Wastewater is fully user-funded with zero property tax impact.
